Sustainability Focused Engagement Award for Students

Deadline to Apply: April 1, 2022

Goal: The SEAS program seeks to support sustainability-focused research in the Penn State College of the Liberal Arts during the spring and/or summer 2022. Students at all levels can apply for funds to conduct independent research projects under the supervision of a CLA faculty member.

What will be funded? Any type of sustainability-focused research or creative project including work in the lab, field, or archives.

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with the next review deadline being April 1, 2022.

Eligibility: Any undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the College of the Liberal Arts with at least one semester remaining before graduation is eligible. Students must have a faculty sponsor for their project and must consult with that faculty member to develop their project. The faculty mentor may be contacted to provide a reference for the applicant.

Funding: Up to three $1000 awards for undergraduates and up to three $1000 awards for graduate students will be awarded. Funds may be used to support research related activities such as lab supplies, analytical services, travel, etc. Awarded funds may not be used as salary or a student stipend.

Project Presentation: Students funded through this program will present their research at the CLA Sustainability Spotlight event in Spring 2023. Awardees must submit a digital version of their presentation to the CLA Sustainability Council as their final project report.

2. Work with a faculty member to develop your project and budget.
