Faculty Mentors for PA Space Grant WMF Student Research Internship Program

Faculty Mentors for PA Space Grant WMF Student Research Internship Program

Deadline to Apply: September 30, 2023

Brief Overview of the WMF Program:

WISER|MURE|FURP (or WMF for short) is a student research internship program at Penn State – University Park supported by the NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium. This program offers first-year students a two-semester (spring and fall semesters of one calendar year) faculty-mentored internship in a research laboratory at Penn State-UP. The NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium is asking you to participate as a faculty mentor.

Students are asked to spend ~5 hours per week on all lab-related activities, including laboratory meetings, training, readings, and other associated research activities. The NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium understands that this is not a significant amount of time, but the goal of the program is to introduce students to the process of doing research and hopefully sparking their interest while not overwhelming them during what can be a tough first year.

WMF Mentor Specifics:

As a mentor the NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium asks that you provide a positive and fulfilling research experience for the student(s) working in your research group. To learn more about the program, the student selection process, laboratory research support, and the yearly symposium please visit the WMF website.

The NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium hopes that you will consider becoming a mentor in the 2024 WMF program.

If you decide to be a faculty mentor, you can sign up here.
