My work addresses dimensions of US inequality and how education operates as a key basis of stratification. I also look at aging and how early life and the organization of life course transitions shape life pathways.
I incorporate features of communication, creating community, and inequality in all my courses, both graduate and undergraduate. I teach a 400-level class in Social Policy that addresses how policy can address social problems and encourage healthy communities, with emphasis on environmental, education, and social welfare policy.
