Rachel Palkovitz is a Ph.D. student in the Anthropology department. Palkovitz plans to use her award money to conduct fieldwork on American ginseng cultivation in Marathon County, Wisconsin. She will collect samples for genetic and morphometric analysis and interview local ginseng growers.
Alison Axtman is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Global and International Studies and French. Axtman plans to use her award money to research climate change policy options in Pennsylvania.
Casey Tilley is a Ph.D. student in the Comparative Literature and Asian Studies dual-title program. Tilley plans to use their award money to conduct archival research at the Library of Congress collections of Brazilian Cordel on environmental discourses in the poetry and visuals of this popular pamphlet form.
Danielle Buffa is a Ph.D. student in the Anthropology and Climate Sciences departments. Buffa plans to use her award money to help communities in southwestern Madagascar write more sustainable fishery management policies.
